HISTORY:
The World of Alassia was created out of the cosmos by the wandering science Nefertari. She herself had been the creator of many worlds and had watched them flourish and she had watched many fall into ruin. She had perfected her world building technique and hoped to be able to build a world that would become a utopia. When Nefertari created the world she pulled materials from the space around her. She used massive pieces of rock floating around her to give this world strength. She then forced a mighty sun into it's center to give it warmth and courage. She used a single golden thread from her flowing dress to stitch Alassia together. Where she touched her new creation sprouted mountains and valleys. A single tear shed from Nefertari made the worlds oceans and rivers and streams. She then leaned close to her world and blew ever so gently on it. When her breath rushed across the rocky soil of the world lush grasslands and hardy forests of green shot from the ground. Finally she pricked the tip of her first finger and a single drop of blood came forth. That drop of blood gave the world life. This is how the world of Alassia began.
After the creation of the world Nefertari created the lesser creatures of the world (goblins, gnomes, trolls, etc.) Then the key to this earth remaining a utopia she created the single greatest race of the world the angelic Aethryn. The Aethryn kept the peace in this new world from high atop there mountain perch at Aselthron for the next 10,000 years. During this time the virgin Nefertari gave birth to four children, all males. For the next 1,000 years they grew into young men. The eldest Acacious dark haired and clothed in robes of red became the first of the sciences to set foot upon Alassia. The next eldest Farin was the second to step foot upon Alessia, he more fair haired with paler skin and peculiar pointed ears wearing a tunic of light blue with a cape of forest green. The third Caderyn who was rather short but very stout with skin that was as tough as stone was the third to walk apon Alessia. The youngest Olaf who was terribly deformed at birth had skin as black as night, his face had his nose smashed up against his right cheek, his bright yellow eyes glowed and the left was higher than his right. Also two large tusks stuck out of either side of his mouth. Young Olaf crossed over into Alessia holding his mothers hand wearing only tattered black rags. Nefertari loved that her sons where so enthusiastic with her creation. Her eldest even convinced her to let them add to its splendor. With that they each created a race to their own image adding four new great races to Alessia. From Acacious came the humans intelligent and able to adapt easily, from Farin came the elves nibble and elegant, from Caderyn came the dwarves who where strong and stout, and from little Olaf came the orcs who despite there looks were a very caring race.

In the middle of the continent there is a great swatch of forest backed by mountains which divided the continent, here the elves made their home. To the north and south of the great forest the human tribes settled (a few tribes settled on the southern continent as well). The dwarves scattered around Alessia Major settled in any mountainous terrain they can find. While Olaf estranged from his three brothers settled the orcs on the southern desert continent of Alessia Minor. All four of the new great races began to expand suprisingly fast. The humans fastest of them all took over the grassy plains below the great forest along with the frigid arctic above it as well as half of the southern continent. The dwarves battled the goblins fiercely for their land but proved easily enough to be superior to them. Meanwhile the elves expanded throughout the great forest and erected four more major cities throughout it. The Orcs on the southern half of the continent easily took half the continent and Olaf was content with that. For the next thousand years the sciences walked Alessia helping there creations to thrive and grow. In this time the human tribes became one. The dwarves who had become seven different clans formed a tight federation. The elves who had always been fairly tight knit formed a government based around elected officals. The orcs tribes under their chieftains formed a confederation in the southern continent.
The Great War:
- 12,000 AC (after creation): the war is started when Acacious kills his mother Nefertari because he believes his humans are superior to all other races. The Aethryn go into hibernation
-12,000 AC: war seems imminent and the great races need to chose sides.... so the dwarves side with humans and the elves side with the orcs
-12,000 AC: Olaf and his orcish army march through the human held parts of the southern continent and burn everything they cannot carry with them and kill any human they see.
-12,003 AC: While the dwarf-Human coalition work their way through the elven woods Olaf invades the southern tip of Alessia Major. After 34 days Olaf and his forces are pushed off the continent and driven back into the sea.
-12,004 AC: Olaf after vowing to return to Alessia Major makes good on his promise when he builds a new fleet of some two hundred warships and sails west along the coast of Alessia Major and land in the swampy costal regions there that are backed mountains home to two of the most powerful dwarven clans. In the elven woods however four years of guerrilla warfare hasn't paid off, the human-dwarf army is now at the gates of Aselthron. Though with Olafs invasion and his recruitment of the lesser races such as the goblins and trolls he know marched on the mountains. This forced two dwarven armies to retreat from the siege of Aselthron to protect their homelands.
-12,004 AC: just one month after two dwarven armies leave their camps around Aselthron the elves sally out to meet their besiegers and push them from their forests.
-12,005 AC: after five years of hard fighting in the elven woods the human-dwarf coalition route due to the sally of the elven army. The orcs on the other hand have dug into the swamps and fight a guerrilla war against the dwarvish armies that have returned there.
-12,007 AC: after two more years of hard fighting no faction seemed to get the upper hand. That was until a rogue elf stole a massive crystal from atop Aselthron's main citadel and sold it to Acacious. Once Acacious had it in his possession he smashed it unleashing the magic within. Now for the first time the great races had access to magic.
-12,010 AC: For the last three years Acacious and his humans trampled over the elvish soil and burning much of the forest to the ground. Acacious had also given his dwarven allies magic as well but secrets such as these could not stay hidden. Eventually both Farin and Olaf gained magical properties by either stealing them or bribing some greedy human or dwarven traitor.
-12,011 AC: Now with all the factions once again evenly matched a stalemate once again occurred.
12,012 AC: Finally after twelve years of bloody conflict the sciences are summoned to Aselthron. Acacious believing he is invincible has no worries of ambush. When he gets he saw the face of someone he thought had been dead for twelve years. Nefertari who had called the meeting now saw her sons face to face for the last time. It is believed that she took the souls of her sons each in a small crystal no bigger than a normal humans thumb nail and the placed their bodies each in separate tombs built into the floor of Aselthrons great citadel. Each one of these tombs were encrusted with thousands of jewels, one of them said to contain each sciences soul. It is said that if both body and soul become one once more than the science in question will be resurrected. After the event Nefertari left her once beautiful world of Alessia once and for all.
For the next 1,000 years the great races where scienceless....
The Dark Ages: After the dissappearance of the sciences the great races fell into chaos. All of their cultural wonders fell to ruins. The united human empire crumbled back into tribes while the dwarves fought amongst each other. The elves retreated to their forests and let all but their beloved Aselthron fall into ruin while the orcs clung desperately to their new found homeland on the western coast of Alesia Major. As the dark ages progressed the humans in the middle of Alesia Major lost all contact with their counter parts on the southern continent and on the far north, their cultures that had once been one were now separate. Many feared that these were the end days in Alessia. Though one human eventually arose from the tribes to drag his people out of the darkness.
The New Age: The raise of the new human empire to power sparked this new again. The human chieftain Thorel quickly conquered his surrounding tribes. By the end of his reign some forty years later the majority of the middle plains of Alessia Major lay in his hands. His sun and grandson (Thorel II and Thorel the III) would lead campaigns to conquer the northern provinces above the elven lands and even lead crusades to the southern continent. During this great rebirth the other great races were not dormant. They strived to rebuild their empires. The elves through their nature magic had restored their forest to its previous splendor and emerged from their isolation just within the last year. The dwarves dug deep underground profiting off the riches of the earth. The orcs who were now few on the Alessia Minor continued to build their new civilization in the swamplands of Alessia Major. With civilizations rebirth and the worlds healing all was looking up.
MAGIC:
The types of magic you use is regulated on what race you are.
Destruction: Human
Nature: Elf
Shamanistic: Orc
Buffs (for lack of a better name): Dwarves
Now other races can learn minimal forms of other magic but these types of magic are what comes "naturally" to them.
Healing magic is more of a nutrael magic and basic levels can be learned by "normal" people. The dark arts are completely unacceptable to all races in this RP. All of the great races hunt out these heretics amongst them and burn them.
Also magic is hard to learn! People who know it are very valuable and usually show signs of it at birth. They are then trained basically their whole young life to learn how to refine, control, and channel their powers. Using spells exerts a lot of energy so there will be no shooting off a half dozen fire balls in a matter of seconds!
GUNPOWDER:
Their are crude forms of gun powder available to both dwarves and humans. Dwarves originally invented the substance some one hundred years ago and have made great progress in both matchlock and wheel lock muzzle loaders though both are types of weapons are very expensive! Only the highest ranking dwarven nobles use wheel lock muskets though some dwarven skirmishers are being issued matchlock weapons. Also both dwarves and humans use primitive forms of cannons and rockets.
On another note the human war machine uses primitive hot air balloons for reconocence.
THE FOUR REMAINING GREAT RACES:
Humans: classified in three groups-
-the Norse who live above the elven lands in an arctic wasteland (the middle landers feel that they don't have much use for them and that they are only good is being fodder in the Human army)
-the middle landers who control most of the southern half of Alessia Major and where the center of the human kingdom is at (believe they are superior in every way to their foreign counterparts)
-and the southerners who live on the desert continent of Alessia Minor (most of the southerners on Alessia Major are slaves or close to it. Their rights are severally limited and they are looked upon as a lesser race)
The middle landers have colonies in both the Alessia Minor and the arctic lands above the elven domain.
Dwarves: Divided into seven clans five of which follow the humans-
- Gaelicia
-Quikahn
-Aralynn
-Aedelstan
-Kevmorn
The two clans who dare oppose human rule and have more lenient ideals about elves and orcs are-
-Ooladove
-Udofire
The Elves and Orcs have still been able to maintain unity amongst themselves.

Sense childhood he has been see as cruel towards other races and it has shown sense his rule. Though he is cruel he has also been through one of the most drastic changes sense the great war. It was the elves re-emergence in 128 NA. They quickly spread there sphere of influence to the great plains bordering there forests. Thorel fearing war has began stepping up his military forces starting in 130 NA. Thorel also a religious Zealot accused the elves of hording the bodies of his (notice the key word there... HIS) sciences and demanded them to be returned or military action would be taken. This new threat hangs over the horizon and as both sides begin to prepare the string that is holding each side back is beginning to fray very quickly.

The humans their are much more tolerant of other races due to there proximity with the elven lands along with the swamps which the orcs inhabit.
