DUDE-yes I have seen several cross country meets-and no thats not competitivity when there are parents yelling at the finish line-"go, go, go bernard" I mean seriously, when you get competitive you need to get competitive with other players and in a "non-contac sport" thats pretty hard. There is as much competitivity in cross country as there is meat in a vegi burger. In a nut shell cross country is a way to see who can run a long ways faster then everyone else. and, just to clue you in, NO BODY CARES WHO THAT YOU CAN RUN 5 MILES. This brings you no glory or anything. all it brings you is decent lung capacity, if even.  |

To add on to that message I have to say how many "famous" or "great" basketball, baseball, and football players do people talk about? A lot. But now how many fast-runners (I guess thats what to call them?) do people talk about. Normally none.

In cross country they book it for 1st at the end of the race I have seen guys givin it their all to win. CROSS COUNTRY IS A COMPETITIVE SPORT.

Dude, it is not a competitive sport at all. There is no way you can say that... If you played a competitive sport you would realise that cross country is not competitive-"giving your all at the end of a race" Oh go cry me a river-How about give every bit of energy you have to never come off the field during a football game. And when its all over, no more games, no more practices, you fall on your nees and cry, that is a competitive sport. If you cry, or even have compassion to care when the season is over, in cross country-then you realy need to play a real sport! ;D All in All no sport is a "competitive sport" unless you can be famous for winning the state tournament, find something inside of you that drives you to go harder, do more then just run, and you actually have to care if you do good.  |

I honestly have to say that cross country is a pathetic excuse for a sport if you stretch the meaning a lot!!!! All you do is run and there is no real point to it since it is only a small test of endurance with absolutely no physical contact. I hate when people say that it is a hard sport since they have to run for 5 miles. Boo hoo. Try being leveled for 3 hours straight by the biggest guy on the team and still get back up for the next play. I have and I liked it.

Cross country is my sport you may think it isn't a sport but I don't see any of you running cross country or on the long distance track team.

Daniel I'll do long distance running in track once you for one hole day go up against the biggest person on the football and then say that cross country is hard. Before that don't judge it.
